Plasma Spray
A powder spray system used for applying a wide range of metal alloys & oxides to enhance the life of components, where wear/friction and barrier insulation are a problem. Typical application areas are, fine running clearances & seal journals in pumps and shaft sleeves. Chromium oxide coatings in excess of Hv300 2000 are regularly produced.
Spray Fuse
A powder based spray system used in the coating of components such as shaft sleeves and wear rings to prolong life in high wear environments. A 2 stage process involving spraying the powder on to the component to a required size then fusing the coating to provide a dense impermeable coating layer. (This process is really only suitable where the components are in a pre-finished state or are able to be re-machined after coating.)
Rokide Ceramic Spray

Rokide is a superior grade ‘Ceramic Coating’. The application process is such that the resulting coating is of a superior quality, used primarily for coating Internal diameters from 50mm upwards.
NB. “Rokide” is the trade name for rod spraying oxides

Aklin Carbide is certified to ISO9001:2008 by the SABS and also registered with the NNR for handling radioactive components.
Arc Spray System
A dual wire spray system to enable spraying of both pure coatings and also ‘alloyed’ coatings. Widely used in the building-up of badly worn components where welding or replacement is not viable, and in the application of corrosion / erosion prevention barriers (as shown), for a wide variety of applications.
Jet Kote
A Steel Mill Roll having a coating of Tungsten Carbide applied to the working surface, to prolong the working life and also to enhance the ‘gripping’ properties in the sheet steel manufacture. Typical hardness of the coating is Hv300 1400 to Hv300 1500
